She also has a sister named Sujaya Chandran. She is a close relative of Ilayaraja and A.R. Rahman.
Vilasini did her schooling at Shrine Vailankanni Senior Secondary School. She graduated with B.Sc. Computer Science from Hindustan College of Arts and Science in Chennai.
She fell in love with Sai Gnanasekar and the couple got married in 2014. But, she was not happy with her husband as he used to torture and cheat on her. In 2019, they were separated and later got divorced.

Career
Karuna Vilasini started her career as an RJ as she joined Radio Mirchi as a Trainee RJ for a period of 8 months. She then worked as Video Jockey on Sun TV before moving to Radio City as an RJ.
In 2012, she got an opportunity to work as a dubbing artist. She made her dubbing artist debut in a film, Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga and gave a dubbed voice to Regina Casandra. She also gave a voice to advertisements on Vijay TV.
In 2020, she made her acting debut in a TV serial, Paavam Ganesan which aired on Star Vijay. In 2022, she started working on her new serial, Bharatidasan Colony which telecasts on Star Vijay. The serial stars Vasanth Vasi, Aishwarya Ramsai, Mohan Vaithya and more.
