He was not interested in Studies. So he decided to do a graduate degree in the field of Hotel Management and Resort Administration. He then worked as a chef in Taj Coromandel. He first faced hard times. But he manages to become a good chef in the Taj Coromandel located in Mumbai.
He then did a Guinness Record of Longtime Cooking by cooking for almost 25 hours and completing almost 617+ Dishes. He is the only chef to Acquire a Ph.D. degree in the field of catering.
He made his television appearance with the show Cook With Dhamu. and telecasted on Jaya Tv. He then made his acting debut in the Kollywood Industry with the movie Kallapadam he then appeared in the movie Ulkuthu in a short role.
He then appeared in the show as one of the judges alongside Venkatesh Bhat in the show Cooku With Comaali seasons 1,2 and 3. This show was a phenomenal success.
After this show, he also acted in the movie Server Sundaram starring Santhanam in the lead role. This film is yet to be released. He also appeared in the web Series Kalyanam Conditions Apply.

Chef Dhamu appeared as one of the judges in the show Cooku With Comaali Season 1. After the success of this show. He also appeared in the Season 2 of the show.
This show also won the best Television show in the Behindwoods Television Awards. He is now appearing as one of the judges in the show Cooku With Comaali Season 3.
In 2022, Damu received an award for ‘Best Jodi Non-Fiction’ along with Venkatesh Bhat for their appearance in Cook with Comali at Vijay Television Awards 2022.
