Dhanush debuted his acting career with the Kollywood movie Thulluvadho Ilamai released in the year 2002 directed by Kasthuri Raja (his father). He then acted in the movie Kadhal Konden directed by Selvaraghavan. He received lots and lots of appreciation from both critics and Tamil audiences for his cult acting in the movie.
He then acquired chances to act in many movies such as Thiruda Thirudi, Pudhukotaiyilirundhu Saravanan, Dreams, Adhu Oru Kanaa Kaalam, and Dhevadhayai Kanden. All these films received mixed responses among Tamil audiences.
