Indian All-rounder Hardik Pandya is most likely to captain the Ahmedabad-based IPL team in 2022. According to reports, the Ahmedabad franchise has already started working on setting up their team management, while some legal issues with the BCCI have been resolved.
The report also suggests that former India pacer Ashish Nehra is set to become the head coach while star all-rounder Hardik Pandya may be named the captain of Ahmedabad.
The final decision is expected soon by the owner of the Ahmedabad team. The mega auction of 2022 will be held in Bengaluru in the second week of February. The auction will take place in Bengaluru, the exact date is not fixed.
But it will be between February 11-13. In November last year, all the current IPL franchises had revealed their retained players list ahead of the upcoming season’s mega auction.

Hardik Pandya was released from Mumbai Indians and the all-rounder will lead the newly formed Ahmedabad-based IPL team in the upcoming edition of the tournament.
MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Glenn Maxwell are some of the big names who have been picked up by the current franchises for IPL 2022 as retain.
The two new IPL franchises – Lucknow and Ahmedabad – have a budget of Rs 33 crore to pick three players to be returned to the pool before the start of the mega auctions.

There were rules for eight franchises that they cannot retain more than three Indians (capped/uncapped). They cannot retain more than two foreign players and not more than two uncapped Indian cricket players.
The company that bought the Ahmedabad IPL team for Rs 5625 crore had to wait a long time for a letter of intent from the BCCI as it required a legal probe.
The delay in getting approval was due to CVC investing in a betting firm in Europe and although it does not have any such operations in India where betting is illegal, the country’s cricket board wanted to be sure of the legal implications before doing so.
