RPSG Group after bidding for Rs 7,090 crore to win Lucknow franchise rights and CVC Capital placed a bid of Rs 5,625 crore for Ahmedabad. Ahead of the mega auction to be held in February, both teams have started the process of drafting three players for each of their teams.
Each of the 8 existing franchises retained a maximum of 4 players last year, while two new teams will be allowed to choose from the remaining pool of players from the auction held in Bangalore. BCCI so farIPL 2022 The venue of the event has not been decided.

The Tata Group, one of India’s largest business conglomerates, will be the sponsor of the IPL this year instead of the Chinese mobile maker Vivo. The decision was taken by the governing council of the IPL in a meeting held on Tuesday. IPL chairman Brijesh Patel said, “Yes, the Tata group will now sponsor the IPL.”
The amount of the deal was not yet known and a Tata Group spokesperson confirmed the sponsorship with a ‘yes’ but declined to provide further details. Vivo had bought the IPL sponsorship rights from 2018 to 2022 for Rs 2,200 crore but took a one-year break after the military confrontation between India and China in the Galvan Valley in 2020. In his place was the Dream11 sponsor.
Vivo became the sponsor again in 2021, although there was speculation that they wanted to transfer the rights to the proper bidder and the BCCI backed it. A BCCI source said, “It was bound to happen if not today or tomorrow as it was giving bad publicity to both the league and the company. The company had to withdraw from the sponsorship a season before the completion of the deal, in view of the negative sentiment towards Chinese products.
