Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has given a big reaction to Rishabh Pant after his tremendous century in the Birmingham Test match. He compared Rishabh Pant to West Indies legend Brian Lara and said that Pant is the Brian Lara of wicketkeeper. The same glimpse was seen in his innings.
Actually Rishabh Pant scored a scintillating century in the first innings of Edgbaston Test match against England. He scored 146 runs in just 111 balls with the help of 20 fours and 4 sixes and took the team out of the difficult situation.
After this innings of Pant, Rashid Latif praised him a lot. During a conversation on the Caught Behind YouTube channel, he said, ‘I had already said that Rishabh Pant is the wicketkeeper’s Brian Lara. When the match is being held in Birmingham, Brian Lara scored 500 runs here. The same glimpse was seen inside Pant today. The movement of his legs is not much, he moves only a little and picks up the ball very quickly wherever it is.
Rishabh Pant batted with a lot of calculations – Rashid Latif
Rashid Latif further said, ‘In this innings, he allowed the ball to come very close to him. He played two-three shots over midwicket against fast bowlers, which were very strong shots. He played with the whole fielding and batted with a lot of calculations. Initially almost all the England fielders were standing inside and Rishabh Pant took full advantage of that and played his shots without fear. Wherever he got a chance, he did not stop at all.
