After successful Nerkonda Paarvai in 2019, Thala Ajith and Director H Vinoth decided to work again for an action thriller film titled ‘Valimai’. The film pre-production begins at end of 2019.
The shooting of the film started in earlier 2020 and was put on hold due to the covid-19 pandemic. Due to the demand for the script, the production takes more time, and updates about the film get delayed for more than a year.
Valimai is one of the most anticipated Tamil movies of 2022 since the last release of Ajith was way back in 2019. According to the reports, The duo Ajith and Vinoth expected to work together for another film.
The film was initially scheduled to release on 14 January 2022 for the eve of the Pongal holidays. However, due to the Covid-19 Omicron wave, the release has been postponed.

Valimai considers the first big release of Kollywood in 2022. After skipping Pongal 2022 due to Covid 19 restriction, the film now hit screens with 100% Occupancy at the box office.
Ajith Kumar’s Valimai was declared as the highest opening day box office collection for any Tamil movie. The film has grossed more than 50+ crores worldwide.
The previous opening day box office record which was set by Superstar Rajinikanth’s Annaththe has been broken by Ajith Kumar. The film is to hit the 100 crore mark in the first weekend.
